About Alan Riva

Alan is the author of the novel, The Jar of Dreams. It is a fantasy novel in the tradition of The Hobbit, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Inheritance Cycle.

The Jar of Dreams is the fusion of two elements of Alan's life that have been a constant since his early twenties.

The first is Alan's love of adventure and travelling to remote parts of the world. The Jar of Dreams came to Alan in a dream halfway up a mountain in the Himalayas and has been inspired in part by his time in Papua New Guinea, Kazakstan, Kenya, Belize, Mexico, Australia and many other places. If you would like to learn more about how Alan created the Lands of Vaniya and the worlds in The Jar of Dreams, you can check out the blog here.

The second aspect of Alan's life that is alive in The Jar of Dreams is his spiritual journey. 'I have always been fascinated with the world within us and how it shapes the world we see and experience outside of us.' Alan explains. That is probably why I have always been drawn to places and cultures where reflection and the search for deeper connection exist. 'I have been lucky to learn from many people and traditions, and I hope some of the life lessons held within the novel help each reader in some small way.'

Beyond The Jar of Dreams, Alan has written a self-help book for Lifeline Australia and is a ghostwriter on mental health and wellbeing for Penguin Random House. He is also a keynote speaker, facilitator and coach.
